If you’re looking to stay in Portland with some style, try the Nines , a luxury hotel located at the top of the historic Frank & Meier building. It’s the former home of one of Portland’s largest department stores, where the city’s most stylish denizens went to get dressed to the nines. And starting January 9, 2009, they’re offering a $99 rate for the next 99 days. To get this deal, you mention the “99 for 99″ deal, and must stay before April 18, 2009. The rooms look absolutely gorgeous, and they also have a fitness center, a bar stocked with books (called the Library), and a steakhouse that focuses on locally grown and organic food, the Urban Farmer. I don’t know about you, but nothing makes my dinner taste better than speed-walking right past a fitness center I’m never going to use because I’m on vacation. They also offer a whole bunch of other fancy things, like twice-daily maid service, bicycle rental, and in-room massage (for an extra fee). And if all that isn’t enough, the Nines is also located right downtown, near Pioneer Square, the MAX light rail, the Portland Art Museum, the Chinese and Japanese Gardens, the Oregon Zoo, and the legendary Powell’s Bookstore. So if you feel like being pampered for a change, hit the Nines! And for a more in-depth look at all Portland has to offer, check out Karla Erovick’s great essay on her trip to the City of Roses.
